The political atmosphere in Ogun West took on renewed energy and direction as Hon. Engr. Olayiwola Waliu Taiwo delivered a powerful charge to political leaders, traditional institutions, religious leaders and community stakeholders during a strategic gathering held in Lusada, Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government Area of Ogun State. The event, organized by the vibrant support group 𝗠𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗲𝘀 𝗠𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗬𝗮𝘆𝗶, centred on advancing the 2027 Ogun Governorship Agenda in favour of Senator Olamilekan Adeola Solomon popularly known as Yayi.
The hall was filled to capacity as representatives from various communities, youth groups, women organisations, and political blocs assembled to deliberate on the future of Ogun West. Hon. Taiwo’s address became the highlight of the event, as he spoke with conviction about the urgent need for unity and strategic political alignment to ensure that Ogun West finally produces the next governor of Ogun State.
In his keynote address, Hon. Taiwo outlined 𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗲𝗲 𝗺𝗮𝗷𝗼𝗿 𝗳𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘀 that justify why Ogun West must take the lead in the 2027 governorship election and why Senator Olamilekan Adeola Solomon stands as the most capable candidate for the task.
°𝟰𝟵 𝗬𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗪𝗮𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴: 𝗔 𝗛𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗜𝗺𝗯𝗮𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲
Hon. Taiwo’s first point dwelled on the long-standing marginalisation of Ogun West since the creation of Ogun State in 1976. For 𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝟰𝟵 𝘆𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘀, the senatorial district has never produced a governor, despite its massive population, economic relevance, cultural importance and political contributions. He emphasized that Ogun East and Ogun Central had repeatedly benefited from the leadership rotation, leaving Ogun West behind in what he described as a glaring democratic imbalance.
According to him, 𝘈𝘧𝘵𝘦𝘳 49 𝘺𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘴 𝘰𝘧 𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘴𝘵𝘪𝘵𝘶𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘢𝘭 𝘦𝘹𝘪𝘴𝘵𝘦𝘯𝘤𝘦, 𝘖𝘨𝘶𝘯 𝘞𝘦𝘴𝘵 𝘤𝘢𝘯𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘶𝘦 𝘵𝘰 𝘣𝘦 𝘴𝘪𝘥𝘦𝘭𝘪𝘯𝘦𝘥. 𝘖𝘶𝘳 𝘱𝘦𝘰𝘱𝘭𝘦 𝘩𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘸𝘢𝘪𝘵𝘦𝘥 𝘭𝘰𝘯𝘨 𝘦𝘯𝘰𝘶𝘨𝘩. 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘵𝘪𝘮𝘦 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘖𝘨𝘶𝘯 𝘞𝘦𝘴𝘵 𝘵𝘰 𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘥𝘶𝘤𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘨𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘯𝘰𝘳 𝘪𝘴 𝘯𝘰𝘸, 𝘢𝘯𝘥 2027 𝘪𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘨𝘰𝘭𝘥𝘦𝘯 𝘰𝘱𝘱𝘰𝘳𝘵𝘶𝘯𝘪𝘵𝘺 𝘸𝘦 𝘮𝘶𝘴𝘵 𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘮𝘪𝘴𝘴.
Hon. Taiwo asserted that this prolonged wait should serve as a rallying point for all leaders and stakeholders to push for fairness and equity in the distribution of political offices.
°𝗬𝗮𝘆𝗶’𝘀 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗰𝗸 𝗥𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗿𝗱: 𝗔 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗻 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝗥𝗲𝗮𝗱𝘆 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗧𝗮𝘀𝗸
The second factor highlighted by Hon. Taiwo was the outstanding performance and visible achievements of Senator Olamilekan Adeola Solomon. He described Yayi as a leader whose reputation spans beyond Ogun West, with exceptional accomplishments in the areas of 𝗶𝗻𝗳𝗿𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲, 𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗼𝗺𝗶𝗰 𝗲𝗺𝗽𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁, 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵 𝗱𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗽𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁, 𝘄𝗲𝗹𝗳𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗶𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗹𝗲𝗴𝗶𝘀𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝗽𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻.
He noted that Senator Yayi’s influence and developmental projects have brought unprecedented visibility to Ogun West at the national level. From road rehabilitation efforts to empowerment of artisans and small business owners, scholarships, community support, legislative advocacy, and his vocal representation in the red chamber, Yayi has become a household name associated with genuine leadership.
Hon. Taiwo stated that with such a consistent track record, Yayi is 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘮𝘰𝘴𝘵 𝘱𝘳𝘦𝘱𝘢𝘳𝘦𝘥 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘮𝘰𝘴𝘵 𝘤𝘳𝘦𝘥𝘪𝘣𝘭𝘦 𝘤𝘢𝘯𝘥𝘪𝘥𝘢𝘵𝘦 𝘵𝘰 𝘭𝘦𝘢𝘥 𝘖𝘨𝘶𝘯 𝘚𝘵𝘢𝘵𝘦 𝘪𝘯𝘵𝘰 𝘢 𝘯𝘦𝘸 𝘦𝘳𝘢 𝘰𝘧 𝘵𝘳𝘢𝘯𝘴𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘮𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘪𝘯𝘤𝘭𝘶𝘴𝘪𝘷𝘦 𝘨𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘯𝘢𝘯𝘤𝘦.
°𝗘𝗾𝘂𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗔𝗺𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗧𝗵𝗿𝗲𝗲 𝗦𝗲𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗗𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗰𝘁𝘀
The third reason put forward by Hon. Taiwo was the principle of 𝗲𝗾𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗮𝗺𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗲𝗲 𝘀𝗲𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗱𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗰𝘁𝘀. He stressed that governance in a multi-zonal state like Ogun must reflect fairness to maintain harmony and social balance. With Ogun East and Ogun Central having taken turns at the governorship seat, the 2027 election presents the fairest opportunity for Ogun West to assume leadership.
He called on political leaders, traditional rulers and opinion moulders across the district to champion this cause with commitment, discipline and unity of purpose.
°𝗢𝗻𝗲 𝗖𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗲, 𝗢𝗻𝗲 𝗩𝗼𝗶𝗰𝗲: 𝗬𝗮𝘆𝗶 𝗮𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗦𝗼𝗹𝗲 𝗖𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗢𝗴𝘂𝗻 𝗪𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗢𝗴𝘂𝗻 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗚𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗼𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽 𝗥𝗮𝗰𝗲 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟳
In a strong and decisive appeal, Hon. Taiwo urged all political actors within Ogun West not only to support Yayi but to ensure that 𝗻𝗼 𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗮𝘀𝗽𝗶𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗱𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗰𝘁 𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗿𝗴𝗲𝘀 to compete against him. He described multiple aspirants from Ogun West as a political trap capable of weakening the district’s chances.
𝘛𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘪𝘴 𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘵𝘪𝘮𝘦 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘥𝘪𝘷𝘪𝘥𝘦𝘥 𝘪𝘯𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘵𝘴. 𝘕𝘰 𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘴𝘰𝘯 𝘧𝘳𝘰𝘮 𝘖𝘨𝘶𝘯 𝘞𝘦𝘴𝘵 𝘴𝘩𝘰𝘶𝘭𝘥 𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘵𝘦𝘴𝘵 𝘢𝘨𝘢𝘪𝘯𝘴𝘵 𝘚𝘦𝘯𝘢𝘵𝘰𝘳 𝘠𝘢𝘺𝘪 𝘪𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘳𝘢𝘤𝘦. 𝘖𝘶𝘳 𝘴𝘵𝘳𝘦𝘯𝘨𝘵𝘩 𝘭𝘪𝘦𝘴 𝘪𝘯 𝘱𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘰𝘯𝘦 𝘷𝘰𝘪𝘤𝘦, 𝘰𝘯𝘦 𝘥𝘪𝘳𝘦𝘤𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘰𝘯𝘦 𝘤𝘢𝘯𝘥𝘪𝘥𝘢𝘵𝘦. 𝘠𝘢𝘺𝘪 𝘮𝘶𝘴𝘵 𝘣𝘦 𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘴𝘰𝘭𝘦 𝘤𝘢𝘯𝘥𝘪𝘥𝘢𝘵𝘦 𝘪𝘯 2027, he declared.
He added that leaders must boldly defend their right to produce the next governor and resist any influence, persuasion, or external interference that may attempt to derail the Ogun West agenda.
𝗦𝘁𝗮𝗸𝗲𝗵𝗼𝗹𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗘𝘅𝗽𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗦𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁
The atmosphere in the hall grew more electrified as various delegates, chiefs, youth leaders and community representatives expressed strong support for the 2027 movement. 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗠𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗲𝘀 𝗠𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗬𝗮𝘆𝗶 reiterated their commitment to grassroots mobilisation, community sensitisation, town hall engagement and political consultations to ensure the success of the agenda.
According to the organisers, the forum marks the beginning of a strategic political roadmap that will cut across all local governments in Ogun West.
𝗔 𝗗𝗲𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗠𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗢𝗴𝘂𝗻 𝗪𝗲𝘀𝘁
Observers at the event described the gathering as one of the most important political mobilisations in recent years. Many believe Hon. Taiwo’s charge could reshape the region’s political landscape and set the tone for a united push toward producing the first Ogun West governor in the history of the state.
As 2027 draws nearer, all eyes are now on Ogun West whether the district will seize this opportunity and rewrite its political story remains a defining question.
