The heat of rising political anticipation ahead of the next electoral cycle, a wave of speculation has swept across Ado-Odo/Ota Federal Constituency and the wider Ogun West Senatorial District. Claims of “consensus candidates” have circulated in hushed conversations, social media posts, and partisan whispers. But authoritative voices within the All Progressives Congress (APC) insist that such reports are not only premature, they are entirely false.
Contrary to widespread rumours, no aspirant has been adopted as a consensus candidate for the House of Representatives seat in Ado-Odo/Ota Federal Constituency. Assertions that High Chief Olanrewaju Bashorun (popularly known as Larrybash), Hon. Kareem Tolani Oyindamola (KTO), or Hon. Tunji Akinosi has emerged as the party’s preferred choice are unfounded and misleading.
Party insiders and respected stakeholders have reaffirmed that the process remains open, guided strictly by the democratic principles and procedures laid down by the APC. The leadership has not issued any official statement endorsing any aspirant as a consensus candidate.
Similarly, in Ogun West Senatorial District, rumours suggesting that a candidate has been selected for the senatorial ticket have been firmly debunked. No leader of the party has publicly or privately declared Hon. Olayiwola Taiwo, Hon. Jimoh Ojugbele, or any other aspirant as the chosen flagbearer. The race remains open, and the outcome will be determined through due process.
Extending beyond federal and senatorial contests, it is equally important to clarify that no aspirant has been picked or endorsed as a candidate for the two Ado-Odo/Ota State Constituencies seats in the Ogun State House of Assembly. Any claims suggesting otherwise are false and should be disregarded. The selection process for these positions, like others within the party, remains ongoing and subject to the established primary procedures.
Observers warn that such rumours, if left unchecked, risk creating unnecessary tension, sowing division among supporters, and undermining confidence in the party’s internal democracy. For a party that prides itself on structure and discipline, the integrity of its primary process is paramount.
A Call for Calm and Patience
The people of Ado-Odo/Ota and Ogun West are therefore urged to remain calm, discerning, and patient. Political developments of this magnitude demand clarity, not conjecture. Party faithful are advised to rely only on official communications from recognized party organs and leadership.
More importantly, this moment presents an opportunity for reflection—not just on who emerges as candidate, but on how that emergence happens.
A Heartfelt Appeal to Party Leadership
Beyond debunking rumours, a deeper message resonates from the grassroots—a message that speaks to the very soul of Ado-Odo/Ota.
The people are not asking for much. They seek to be seen, heard, and respected through representation that genuinely reflects their aspirations. Across wards and communities, a consistent sentiment echoes: the desire for a candidate who is known, trusted, and rooted in the people’s everyday reality.
The strength of any political party lies not merely in its structure, but in its ability to align its decisions with the will of the people. History has shown that candidates with deep grassroots connection inspire not just support, but loyalty and active participation.
In this regard, party faithful point to the widely acknowledged model of Senator Olamilekan Adeola Solomon (Yayi), whose political strength has been built on sustained engagement with constituents and a visible, people-oriented approach to leadership.
Ado-Odo/Ota Federal Constituency deserves nothing less than a credible, formidable candidate whose acceptance among the people is organic, not imposed. This is not a time for political experimentation or top-down decisions detached from grassroots realities. It is a defining moment that calls for authenticity.
When the people feel a sense of ownership over a candidate, they do more than vote, they mobilize, defend, and sustain the mandate with unmatched unity and conviction.
Let the People’s Voice Lead
To the leadership of the APC in Ogun State and Ogun West in particular, this stands as a respectful but urgent appeal: let wisdom and democratic integrity guide the process. Let the eventual choice of the party reflect the genuine preference of the people.
In doing so, the path to victory becomes clearer, stronger, and more legitimate
For now, the message remains simple and unequivocal, there is no consensus candidate yet. No aspirant has been officially endorsed across the federal, senatorial, or state assembly races in Ado-Odo/Ota and Ogun West. The races remain open. The process is ongoing.
And the people are watching, waiting, and hoping that when the moment of decision comes, their voice will not just be heard, but will lead.
